This is a new fashion trend in china. Legging that look like hairy legs!
What do you think? Would you wear them?
So now that my son is at school I find I have a lot of free time on my hands. While he is at school if I am not having coffee with friends I tend to wander aimlessly around the house. I have other stay at home mum friends who are always busy. But I have no idea what they do! I only have one child so the house work takes next to no time to do. I’m not one of those anal people who feel the need to spend my days cleaning. I have Saturday morning as my big cleaning day where I do the washing for the week, sweep and mop the floors and just do a tidy up. Yes I have gone back to doing study but to be honest having already been studying for 3 years I have gotten the routine of it and all the cheats behind up my sleeve so it doesn’t take me the recommended hours that they try and tell me it takes! This still leaves me with what do stay at home mums do?!? I’m not ready to go and get a job just yet as my boy has only just started school plus I am doing my full time study so I can get an awesome job when I have finished. I guess I could volunteer my time a day or 2 a week to somewhere but in all honesty it doesn’t appeal to me all that much and I have done my volunteering time a few years ago when I used to help out a couple of days a week at the local church op shop! So if some one could help me I ask…
What do Stay At Home Mums do all day??
So I just wasn’t feeling it today. Just felt like a bad day. Nothing went wrong so to say but just felt off and could have very easily spent the day in bed. Had a lot going on in my mind lately (which I am sure I will tell you all about in another post later!). So I have tried to think of some things I can do to help me out of this little funk I am in at the moment. Tonight after I put the boy to bed I am going to have a nice long shower (I’m not really a bath person), I will got out a face mask and put that one. Then I will chill out in front of the tv and watch a movie with a glass of wine. After all that I will have an early night and get some sleep. When you have a bad day the best thing to remember is that tomorrow is a new day and nothing is as bad as it seems.
What are your tricks for getting over a bad day?
So last weekend I decided that it was time to introduce Addison to the lord of the rings movies. He loves them and we have been watching them all non stop! I wasn’t too sure about introducing them to him but we haven’t had any problems. As you have probably guessed I love all things that are considered nerdy. None of my friends really get it. So I love the LOTR movies and I own Nenya or the Ring of Water which is wore by the Elf Galadriel (played by Cate Blanchett). So I though I would tell you all my top 10 LOTR quotes.
10. ‘Even the smallest person can change the course of the future’ – Galadriel
9. ‘It’s a dangerous business, Frodo, going out your door. You step onto the road, and if you don’t keep your feet, there’s no knowing where you might be swept off to.’ – Bilbo Baggins
8. ‘I made a promise, Mr Frodo. A promise! ‘Don’t you leave him Samwise Gamgee.’ And I don’t mean to! I don’t mean to.’ – Sam
7. ‘I have no memory of this place’ – Gandalf
6. ‘I would rather share one lifetime with you than face all the Ages of this world alone.’ – Arwen
5. ‘Shall I describe it to you, or would you like me to find you a box?’ – Legolas
4. ‘A sure death, zero chance of success, what are we waiting for?’ – Gimili
3. ‘You shall not pass’ – Gandalf
2. ‘One does not simply walk into Mordor’ – Boromir
1. ‘It is but a shadow and a thought that you love. I cannot give you what you seek.’ – Aragon
I have about 100 more quotes that I love. It’s just one of those movies that you just love and can quote from.
Now the question. Do you have a favourite LOTR quote?
Brrr… It is that time of year in Australia. Winter is upon us and it is chilly. Where I live in Mt Gambier it get very cold. Sadly though like most of Australia we don’t get snow. Just lots of rain and really cold winds. The temp normally doesn’t get over 15c and nights are freezing. To me this is the perfect weather. On these cold winter days I love nothing more then curling up on the couch and either watching a movie or reading a book. An awesome thing about my new place is that it has a wood fire. This has been an experience for me as in my 30 years I have never lived in a house which had a wood fire. But almost 2 weeks in I am loving it! It is so peaceful watching the wood fire and watching the flames dance. Not to mention that it really warms the lounge room up. I’m sweltering! Addison loves the fire as well and has great plans to cook in it and toast marshmallow!
So what’s the weather like where you are?
Yes it is true. I am back! I have missed writing and sharing with you all. Life got a little crazy there for a while. So what have I been up to I guess you are all wondering. Well I will tell you.
To start with I had to move house. This was a feat within itself. My old agents weren’t being very forth coming in giving me a good reference so I really struggled to find a place. I was very lucky though. After much stressing and a few tears I went to housing trust (a place where you can get help and public housing). Now I am not eligible for public housing as even though I am a single mum because I don’t need help from other services I am one of the ones that fall through the gaps. I was lucky however in that I was able to get the help of the private housing liaison officer. I can’t speak highly enough of her as within 24 hours of meeting her she had a house lined up for me with the agents that I had before the ones that kicked me out of the house! So while it came down to the line with moving I have found myself a new house. It is a great place too. $15 a week cheaper then what I was in, it is a bigger place on the inside, it has a wood fire and it is in a really quiet area. It does have it’s downsides though. There is no real yard so Addison has no outside to play with however, that has been not so much of a worry as if you jump over my back fence there is a playground, BBQ’s and the BMX track! the other big downside is that it is still a fair walk to school. This also isn’t too much of a worry as there are no hills and in summer Addison can ride his bike and in the winter when he gets a bit older he will be able to catch the bus to school. In all honesty I am just grateful that I have a roof over my head as it was looking like I might have had to move into a shelter (although I had a fair few people who offered to take us in if that became the case). We are settling n nicely in our new place and have already gotten ourselves into a great routine.
So in other news while all this was happening I have also started back at uni. After taking the last 6 months off to have a break and to work out what I wanted to do I took the massive plunge and changed degrees. For those that don’t know I was doing a social work degree however I found that my heart wasn’t really in it (or my heart was in it a bit too much) and so I am now following my dream in doing a Business degree. and an added bonus is that I will have it finished in a year. For the next year I will be studying full time with out the normal break times. Pretty sure I am crazy doing it this way but it does mean I will finish it quicker. So far I am loving the whole course. It is all pretty straight forward and all stuff I know which is great. As an added bonus the lecturers are great and I love the fact that the majority of them actually wrote the textbooks that we work from!
So as you can see it has all been busy here! So now comes the question
What have you all been up too since I took my break?
